Professor Norman Girvan is well known in the Caribbean Region for his scholarship and public advocacy in a wide range of issues of Caribbean development and integration. He received his BSc degree in economics from the University College of the West Indies (London University) and the PhD in economics from the London School of Economics. He has been adviser to regional governments and consultant to several regional and international organisations. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of the West Indies.
